A trial was done in Cass County, North Dakota, earlier this year with a side-by-side comparison of Green Lightning vs UAN 32. The trial went surprisingly well considering the fact that it was corn planted after corn last year. The grower is a master at his work, with a wide variety of crops over thousands of acres near a small town in the southeastern portion of North Dakota. “Both fields had some urea applied in fall, but everything else is GL vs 32... I was very surprised to see what I saw in this trial,” says the North Dakota grower. According to the USDA, Cass County can expect 161 bushel per acre on an average year, so seeing the chart below shows the trial went very well. He applied Green Lightning at knee high, all foliar with the sprayer, and decided the 32-0-0 would be knifed in on the traditional program. “The corn looked identical in growth and appearance,” says the grower.
EXACTLY THE SAME!
The chart above shows how comparable the two forms of N were in this trial—the difference was $0.50 in electricity cost to produce 30 gallons of Green Lightning compared to 32-0-0 prices, as well as a potential increase in plant/ground health.
If this doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what does!
